I was at the Jama Masjid in Delhi yesterday. We were there just before the call to prayer, and to break the fast for the day. It was very peaceful. I spoke to the Muslims at the Masjid, and we connected as one person to another.
Shah Jahan’s old Mosque, which the British wanted to raze to the ground in 1858, was alive and well, as was the spirit of the people.
The devotees sat there patiently. It is hot and humid in this month of Ramzan here in India, yet they were patient, and waited.
If we can connect as people, all differences of religion will tend to fall away.
Can we allow it?
I hope so.
